PLAN: East Boston comment period extended; 969-985 Bennington St sold
I had such a great time meeting community member last week! Thank you to all those who took the time to learn about and share your thoughts with me about upcoming changes to Bennington Street.
- The public comment period for PLAN: East Boston has been extended to 12/1 from 10/27 - Between now and then, the Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA) will be releasing a revision to the plan and hosting several more community meetings. A more detailed timeline and information about how to submit a public comment is available at https://www.bostonplans.org/planning/planning-initiatives/plan-east-boston
- 969-985 Bennington, a commercial building located next to Orient Heights station, sold last week for $7.1M. Current tenants include New Saigon and Classic Smoke & Vape. At just over 10k sq. ft. in land, it seems likely that the new owner, Beantown Companies, intends to develop it. While official proposed zoning regulations haven't been released yet, I anticipate the project to be at least 4 stories in height, like 2 Ford Street and 970 Saratoga St, which the BPDA board recently approved.
